Colored Layer
Until now, the only way to change the illumination color of the cluster was to replace the LEDs mounted on the circuit board – a difficult job that requires soldering skills and experience.
To avoid that kind of work, we developed a dedicated Colored Layer film that lets you change the lighting color without touching the electronics. It uses a special high-temperature-resistant material that maintains brightness while adding the desired color tint to the illumination.
You can use this option to change the color of the factory white-illuminated numerals and scale markings, but it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. By trimming the film, you can tint only specific areas. For example, as shown in the photo, you can change just the KODO “heartbeat” ring to red or blue while keeping the rest of the lighting in the original color.
For the Black Dial, the Colored Layer can completely refresh the color of the numerals and scale markings, giving the whole cluster a different mood at night.
However, if the film is placed over the yellow letters, those areas can appear darker and lose their original impact.
To avoid this, we recommend trimming the film as shown in the photos so that it does not cover those segments, allowing the yellow and red accents to remain bright while the rest of the dial takes on the new color.
